Graphic Design: The Next Step

Description

This Advanced Level Graphic Design course allow you to explore graphic communication through the understanding of the elements and principles of design, as well as, the design process, from idea development through the final execution of a document. Professionals use the concepts explored in this course in the following disciplines: advertising, graphic design, web design, illustration, photography and many others. Assessment will be based upon a rubric that takes into consideration effort, technical understanding and creative use of resources for the completion of various assignments using Photoshop cc and illustrator cc.

Duration & Scheduling

10 sessions
Twice a week (depends on scheduling).

Learning Objectives

• Image-making methodologies and systems
• Publication design and poster design
• Logo package design and typeface design
• Work with the Photoshop interface and features
• Acquire the fundamental knowledge of web design layout, web graphics and functional mockups

Qualifications required for enrolment

Knowledge of Windows or practical working knowledge of Mac OS X, including an ability to navigate the desktop, as well as having an understanding of computer file storage (i.e. drives, files and folders).

Good knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator workspaces.
