Workshop Description:

This introductory class is intended for those with no previous experience. It provides a great opportunity to explore, experiment and develop the basic jewelry-making skills essential for building a lasting foundation for this craft.

What this Workshop does:

Participants will have an opportunity to develop a wide range of fundamental jewelry-making skills that are essential for building a solid foundation and will be introduced to a wide variety of tools and techniques which include: proper use of hand tools, flexshafts, hammers, polishing equipment, jeweler’s saw, files, pliers, doming blocks and more. You will learn how to cut, saw, pierce, dome, texture, drill etc. to create 1-3 pieces in this 5 days course.

Once the basic techniques are covers, students will work through projects throughout the day to develop their skills and leave with finished pieces of jewelry. In this workshop they will have the chance to make a ring, pendant and pair of earrings using copper wire and sheets. Whether you are making them for yourself, a friend or to sell through a business, all the techniques covered will give you an excellent grounding for making professional jewelry.

Who the course is for:

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners. Also ideal for those who have some jewelry experience but wish to add to their repertoire. It covers the basic principles and techniques of jewelry designing and making.

Grading for Receiving Certification
Participants will receive their certificates of Course or Diploma Completion only if they have:
– Attended 75% of the total hours required
– Completed 75% of the class exercises and take home assignments
– Completed and submitted their final project if any, with approval of the session leader

Nesrine Hegazi:
Nesrine Hegazi is an acclaimed jewelry maker and designer with ten years of experience in the creative industry. She founded Sterling Silver Egypt to revive the creation of handmade jewelry, which is often lost to mass production. She produces “iconic symbols” that reflect character and personal interests, and are inspired from Egypt’s rich cultural heritage and nature. With multiple specializations in jewelry design, metal smithing, wax carving and stone setting, Hegazi has exhibited her work in local and international bazaars and galleries. She enjoys teaching young talents how to create unique and inspiring designs, to become master jewelers and model makers.
