Amr Nounou is an architect with a wide academic and practical experience in interior designing that exceeds 10 years. Nounou is a holder of a specialized Master's degree (class rank 1st) from Politecnico di Milano, Italy. His projects were produced through his design studio “Amr Nounou Architects” and other well-known design studios and companies in Milan. Nounou’s constant participation in many international interior design workshops and affairs kept his work inspired by recent trends and technologies. He has created luxury residential projects in addition to working on various commercial spaces such as: restaurants, bars and retail spaces. Besides architecture and interiors, Nounou keeps exploring diverse design fields like furniture, product design, brand communication and brands storytelling.
Bassem Yousri is a multidisciplinary creative and designer that has been exhibiting his art work since 2000 across Egypt, the Arab world, the US, and Europe and has participated in various group exhibitions that took place—to name a few— in the Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI) in New York, USA; Centre Pompidou and L’Institut du Monde Arabe both in Paris, France; Sharjah Art Foundation, UAE. He received his BFA in painting from the School of Fine Arts - Helwan University in Egypt, then proceeded in 2009 to complete an MFA in painting, drawing and sculpture from Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia. Yousri creates experimental and documentary films, and mixed media installations in art galleries and in public spaces, and transmits his knowledge at KEMET.
Sarah Allouba is an interior designer, architect who graduated in 2007 from Misr International University (MIU) with a degree in Architectural Engineering. She practiced different aspects of the field as she quickly gone into academia as a TA in MIU after her graduation, then joined Palm Hills Developments in 2008 where she worked as an architect, then as an interior designer at the Mona Hussein Design House. Upon her experience and interest in interior design she joined the Florence Design Academy (FDA) and graduated with a Masters of Arts in Interior Design. Allouba is now back into academia by teaching at KEMET alongside being a senior architect, team leader at New Giza company.
Marawan Fayed is a furniture designer, Architecture graduate from the faculty of fine arts at Helwan University, and a Design Integration Master’s degree bearer from the Koln International School of Design (K.I.S.D). Since his early graduation days, Fayed kept a career balance between the worlds of design practices and design academia. He started running his own studio while teaching at several universities such as the German University in Cairo, the American University in Cairo and other private universities, where he taught various courses such as Architectural Design Studios, Product Design and Graphic Design Foundation.
Nesrine Hegazi is an acclaimed jewelry maker and designer with 10 years of experience in the creative industry. She founded Sterling Silver Egypt to revive the creation of handmade jewelry. Hegazi produces iconic symbols that reflect character and personal interests that are inspired from Egypt’s rich cultural heritage and nature. With multiple specializations in jewelry design, metal smiting, wax carving and stone setting, her work and designs were exhibited in local and international bazaars and galleries. Hegazi enjoys teaching young talents how to create unique and inspiring designs, to become master jewelers and model makers.
Yamen El Gamal is a musician, educator, art director and master of fine arts.
He graduated at the top of his class from Helwan University with a degree in Printed Design, and received his Master’s degree in illustration from the Savannah College in the US. El Gamal has created designs for global firms such as JWT and Leo Burnett, and has drawn everything from children's books and wedding posters to medical info-graphics and graffiti art. Yamen’s work has been displayed at local and international exhibitions, including ones in Cairo, Romania, and Georgia. Striving to find quality and value in all his endeavors, he instructs with zeal and passion.
Graduated from the German University (GUC), Applied Arts section, Aseel Magdy is a young graphic designer who has been doing freelance designs since an early age, balancing school and work. Her tutors have attested that she is one of the most talented in her class graduating with honors. With her strong software and computer skills she approaches the field of design not just as a job she ought to do but as a tool to understand and shape people’s minds, a tool she recently started teaching to teens and beginners in introductory courses.
Dina shouman is an architect who graduated from Cairo University’s architecture department in 2009, and went on to complete her master’s degree in interior architecture in Florence, Italy in 2011. Upon her return to Egypt, she worked for several reputable firms including Mona Hussein Design House, TDF Office and Eklego Design. Then in 2017 she decided to merge between interior designing and furniture designing to co-found, open and create the company that is Norug Design Office. When she is not teaching or running her own firm, she likes sketching and painting with water colours, all in the spirit of art and design.
Karim Syaad has over 14 years of experience in branding and advertising, working across a wide range of mediums from print through digital to TV animation storyboards. An applied arts scholar, a visual arts lover and an advertising enthusiast, Karim is the founder of Carbon Design Studio. He currently teaches courses in Brand Visual Identity Design at Nayzak School, and is the full time Art Director at Hawyia company. Karim has successfully designed a number of live projects for companies in different industries such as La Vista Developments, MCS Oil services, Mia Cucina Kitchens and Dressing rooms, Fel-rawaqan Cafe, Al-Rabie Lighting, Aprox Engineering Solutions, and DMA Design consultancy.
Mahy Mourad is a multidisciplinary designer and architect based in Cairo who has more than 15 years of professional experience. She lectured on design and architecture in several universities in Cairo; Cairo Uni, AAST, UFE and AUC. In 2015, she has founded Studio 39, an interdisciplinary design and research studio that take part in projects that spans architecture, interior and landscape. Mahy has contributed to several research projects. Her research focuses on modern urban and architectural developments in Egypt, particularly those of the 19th and 20th century. Mahy holds a Bachelor degree of Architecture from the faculty of Fine Arts in Cairo, and a dual Master’s degree in urbanism and design.
Lubna Omar is an aspiring creative director of a luxury fashion brand, who graduated in 2018 with a BA (Hons) degree in Product Design from the German University in Cairo, and was later shortlisted for the Creative Academy in Milan Masters of Art in Design and Applied Arts full scholarship. She is a self-taught fashion illustrator who launched her website - www.ellevox.com - to showcase her fashion illustrations. Back in 2011, and has since collaborated with international brands such as Victorinox Swiss Army, Louis Moinet and Zaful. Her illustrations garnered the attention of international celebrities including Blake Lively, Rosie HuntingtonWhitely, and Chiara Ferragni.
After six years in corporate life, Hala El Laithy pursued her passion and became a fashion designer and consultant as she graduated from ESMOD Paris with a degree in Fashion Design. During her stay in Paris she worked in many fashion houses, and with Marion Chopineau on big projects like Louis Vuitton and Maison Margiela in fabric manipulation. She also participated in Paris Fashion Week with her first collection at ``ZIPZONE`` salon. El Laithy was and is convinced that Egypt's fashion scene is booming, which encouraged her to move her brand ``Ēleissi`` to her hometown to become part of this innovative environment and to continue merging fashion with technology through the use of high tech fabrics, and passing on her passion by teaching.
Maha Ahmed is a young passionate fashion designer who decided to explore the design field and move to Milan to pursue a degree in Fashion Design from Istituto Marangoni, Milano, Italy. She also attended the fashion marketing short course at London College of Fashion. Her educational background is in marketing and Global Communication since she had completed a BA at the American University of Paris, making her work in fashion well rounded in both design aesthetics and all-knowing market needs. Maha worked for a start-up fashion PR agency, and is now exploring the field of design and aiming to push the boundaries of creative expression through her work.
Ahmed Nabil is a fashion designer and art director who originally graduated with a mass communication degree, then followed his artistic interests by taking fashion styling, art direction, fashion design and tailoring & pattern making courses. In 2014, Nabil started his first clothing line “NOB Designs”, and his first collection was shown at the second edition of Cairo Fashion Festive (CFF). He worked as a fashion director for MO4 network where he participated in various huge shoots and fashion films for the likes of Mall of Egypt, Coca Cola, Pandora, Nescafe, Pier 88 and Masr El Kheir.
Ahmad El Daly is an interior architect with 10 years of experience in design tools, techniques, and principals involved in concept production be it plans, drawings and/or models. He has worked as an interior designer in some of Egypt’s and the gulf’s leading design offices such as Mona Hussien Design House, AEB, and Mimar, working through a variety of hospitality, residential and commercial projects. Recently, he started leading his own design studio, while still pursuing his interest in teaching—an interest that started in 2016 when he became a teacher’s assistant in Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime—and now being developed further here at KEMET.
Amira Essa is a shoe designer who holds a certificate in Shoe Design and Making from Accademia Riaci in Florence, Italy. Having studied the craft for the past 8 years, Essa introduced the shoe design course in the Egyptian market in 2017 with Kemet Art and Design institute in the AUC with 60+ students and over 5 rounds. Essa’s valuable knowledge and experience assisted some of her students in creating their own brands such as: “Elia” by Amira Motawea and “Noun” by Nada Gomaa. And she continues to bring to the courses new knowledge, styles, ideas and a lot of spirit.
Fouad El Sherbini is a film director with national and international productions experience that exceeds 10 years in the industry. He received his Bachelor’s degree in mass communication, with a specialization in broadcasting from MSA University and Middlesex University London. Fouad worked as a director producer and instructor in various movies, promos, reports, trailers, TV programs and commercial ads. His work won several awards, 5 Cam International Film Festival awards and also won in the Forum of Movies in the Egyptian Film Center. Then alongside his career as a director and producer, he started teaching film-making and cinematography.
Sherine Osman is a graphic designer and global artist who spent her childhood in Germany, France, Vietnam and Rwanda. Upon her relocation to Cairo, she studied to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from the American University in Cairo. Osman has participated in diverse art exhibitions, internationally and locally. With such an exceptional talent, Sherine went on to tutor students from Lycée Français du Caire and is currently a teacher at Malvern College Egypt. Her passion for art and how it can heal people, combined with her unique international exposure, continue to be at the heart of her work.
Zahra El Sherbiny is a fashion designer who studied at the London College of fashion (LCF- UAL) and undergone a Master’s degree at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She owns “WEAR Fashion Consultancy”, a company that is specialized in branding, consultancy, buying & merchandising, styling, image consultancy, photo shooting fashion and creative direction. In addition, El Sherbiny is also a stylist and photoshoot director for celebrities and non-celebrities, as well as the fashion director of several magazines like Cairo Elite, London Runway and Magnificent magazine.
Ayam Al Zorkany
Ayman Al Zorkany is an Egyptian comic book, storyboard illustrator and costume designer, born in December 1982. The artist has worked on several attempts in both, comics and graphic novels projects. His documented work “Using Life: استخدام الحياة “, with the novelist Ahmed Naje that was published in 2014 gained acclaim, and was then translated into Italian and English (US). His images and artworks have appeared in different group and solo exhibitions, as well as international salons. He is currently teaching Comics and Animated Films storyboarding at the Animation School - Jesuit Cairo.
Mahmoud El Masry
With six years of experience under his belt in the video and production sector, Mahmoud El Masry possess strong innovative art and design principles that he blends with various mediums using camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects to bring his illustration designs to life. In 2014 Mahmoud received a B.Sc. in Software Engineering from Benghazi University in Libya, then proceeded to attain a professional Diploma in Software Engineering from Cairo University. He has extensive experience across Libya and Egypt in delivering high quality motion graphic content, ready for broadcasting, as he worked on projects that include marketing campaigns, promotional videos, TV commercials, corporate videos, social channels.
Raghda Moataz is as a book author, a researcher, a graphic designer, an art director and an ukulele player, with a deep love for practicing and teaching design. Raghda is a ranked design graduate from the German University in Cairo, majoring in Graphic design, and the valedictorian speaker of her class. During her years in the field, Raghda was among the founding team of two startups: Hasala Donations services, and XPayhub payment services. She is the author of the soon to be published book ‘Absolute Egypt’, and the art director and graphic designer of the 100 BAP competition for its second round.
